Conformance score

cortexbuild conformance produces a 0-100 maturity score for how well a repository has adopted CortexBuild's governance, and writes:

  • .cortexbuild/CONFORMANCE.md -- a human-readable breakdown.
  • .cortexbuild/conformance.json -- a machine-readable summary.

What it measures

The score is the equal-weighted average of five factors, each recomputed fresh from your repository's actual state every time you run it:

Factor What it checks
Gates run Whether your governance checks have actually run and passed recently
No drift Whether the files rendered into your AI tools are up to date with your rules
Ledger consulted Whether the recurrence ledger is present and loading correctly
Profile complete Whether your project's context profile is filled in
Standards in sync Whether your rules match the standards pack you're pinned to

A factor that has never been configured scores 0 rather than being skipped -- so an unconfigured repository reads as low-maturity, not as "not applicable".

Trustworthy by design

The score is always recomputed from your repository's current state; it is never read back from a previously saved report, so hand-editing the report has no effect on the next run. It is also fully offline and deterministic: running it twice against the same state always produces the same result, and it never leaks secrets or personal data into the report.

An unconfigured repository never crashes -- every factor simply degrades to its lowest score and the report still renders.

Using it as a gate

# Non-blocking annotation (default): always exits 0
cortexbuild conformance

# Blocking gate: exits non-zero if the score is below N
cortexbuild conformance --fail-under 80

The gate always acts on a score computed fresh at the time it runs, never on a previously saved report.
